Promoting the benefits of containerised storage

I wanted to start a little discussion about containerised self storage, and the possible benefits to:- Customers Moving companies Container storage companiesProviders of storage in sea containers usually have locations in 'out of town' areas. Their storage charges can be substantially cheaper than those of centrally located companies. The strong branding of the big self storage companies successfully persuade customers to consider them first, without realising that if they are going to store long term (or even permanently), they may save a lot of money by going out of town. Naturally central urban storage meets the needs of many customers, but what about those who are simply not aware of the alternatives or have worked out the costs? Are businesses missing a trick here? - The customer could be saving money, the small moving company could get a more substantial job (with say, an hour of travel each way) and the container storage company gets the business. So...If the branded companies are falling over themselves to offer discounts and rent free periods, would not the out of town companies benefit by offering discounts to compensate for the additional removal costs? I wonder what people think;-Is there any mileage in this? How to quantify the benefits to the customer? Would a classified ads section advertising special deals, (easily adjustable by storage operators) be a benefit? How could moving companies suggesting this customer benefit be rewarded? I will just leave this post and see if it attracts any comments from storage providers or moving companies.
