Deliveries Are Cheaper Than Removals
What's the difference between removals and deliveries?...
Three things: Labour, time and service.
If you want a cheap removal service, you will get a better price if you do some of the work, do everything you can to save time, and therefore reduce the level of service you require.

A removal service involves a higher level of customer service from the company and a lower level of efffort from the customer.
1)They may dismantle furniture, move difficult items from difficult places, advise and repack unsuitably prepared items. They will be expert in loading and securing
furniture. They will supply a crew as may be appropriate for your needs
2)They will load and unload at times agreed with you for your convenience.
Couriers optimise a route on behalf of many customers per day. They require flexibility in timing, agreeing to pick up and deliver only within broad time parameters.
They will expect loading and unloading time to be minimal, as if from or to a warehouse's loading bay. Items to be moved will need to be suitably packaged and enclosed for easy moving, storing and identification. You will need to assure them of quick and easy loading (and unloading)to interest them.
Substantial items of furniture may not be suitable for a delivery service.
So although many removals will have complications which disqualify them from the efficencies and savings of a delivery service, you should consider how to simplify your move to get the best price.
You will need to make your own insurance arrangements for personal belongings. Most student policies cover you for transit between home and college. See
